Pelotas Commercial Association and collective identities

This text aims to develop some reflections on elite individuals in the city of Pelotas, from the perspective of the Commercial Association of Pelotas (ACP), seeking to dialogue with the possibilities of a collective identity from groups that relate to each other. The Association became one of the main centers of defense of the city's industrial and economic sector, a fact that led to a strong concentration of what can be called the elite, coming from different spaces, with not only economic but also political ties. It is within this condition that the present analysis is placed, by observing, although not in a very in-depth way, what may have led these individuals to organize themselves into a collective, based on class interests and/or assume individual protagonism.
