The Trilhas Eco Verdejante project in Pernambuco is an environmental education tool in accordance with Law No. 9,985/00, which instituted the National System of Nature Conservation Units (SNUC), and thereby establishes the criteria and standards for the creation, implementation and management of conservation units. It has stood out for being the pioneer and only environmental project that promotes stewardship behaviors by its managers, combining education, awareness, environmental responsibility and incentives to combat deforestation and pollution in environmentally protected areas (APA), operating in nine cities in the metropolitan region of Recife-PE. This study seeks to understand how environmental managers of the “Trilhas Eco Verdejante” project in Pernambuco integrate and promote responsible management behavior (Stewardship) in their actions, taking into account the difficulties and needs faced. The analyses carried out using the content analysis method applied in this study provide fundamental inferences for understanding both the positive value found in the stewardship behavior of environmental managers, as well as the difficulties, challenges and hardships faced.
