This pedagogical letter aims to share with the participants of the X Humanistic Multidisciplinary Meeting and the IX Latin American Congress of Multidisciplinary Humanistic Studies a pedagogical experience carried out at the Paulo Freire Municipal Elementary School, located in Gravataí - RS. On the occasion of the school's twenty-fourth anniversary, celebrated this year in 2024, commemorative activities were held to honor the school. Among the proposals, the librarian developed a reading project based on the book "A Casa e o Mundo Lá Fora: Cartas de Paulo Freire para Nathercinha", written by Nathercia Lacerda, with the objective of introducing the sixth-grade students to the letters exchanged between the individual honored by our school and his cousin. Through the letters in the book, the students had the opportunity to experience Freire's fluid writing style, rich in detail, and addressed to a child: Nathercinha. The reading allowed the students to learn about Paulo Freire and encouraged them to write personal letters to loved ones, describing our school. This task not only introduced them to Paulo Freire but also motivated the practice of writing personal letters, a genre warmly embraced by the students, given the presence of a real recipient who received their words, showcasing a space so important and present in their daily lives.
Keywords: Paulo Freire; Personal letter genre; Pedagogical letters.
