The stigmas faced by relatives of prisoners can be considered serious current problems. In this context, children are the most vulnerable, as they depend emotionally and economically on their parents. Children whose parents are in prison experience a variety of negative consequences, particularly in terms of their emotional health and well-being. Therefore, working with a group of children stigmatized due to the imprisonment of one of their parents or both, and seeking new alternatives to improve the resilience and self-esteem of the children of inmates was the stimulus for this work. For that, the knowledge and methods of the Design of Social Innovations were used as an alternative to solve this complex challenge. Thus, the objective was to develop workshops for games, toys and recreational games, to use them with the children of incarcerated people and to evaluate their performance. It was a quantitative and qualitative research that involved, through field research, a group of children whose parents were incarcerated in the Association for Protection and Assistance to Convicts (APAC) in the city of Itaúna-MG/Brazil. It was found that the application of these playful workshops was positively presented as an “innovative solution” both for the reception and assistance to children, daughters and children of inmates, as well as to their fathers and mothers. It was understood that such workshops are not in themselves the only solution or the perfect solution, but that they were suitable for: creating a relaxed and more pleasant space inside the prison for the children who frequent that arid space.
