Over the decades, some thinkers from Latin American have positioned themselves as powerful voices of a thought favorable to real female emancipation, attracting criticisms to the perspectives they have shown, out of line with society’s value systems both a century ago and now, in which conservative agendas have returned to the top of power in different countries and governments. Observing this phenomenon, this work aims to highlight some of the propositions of Brazilian writer Ercília Nogueira Cobra and Chilean writer Lina Meruane related to feminist issues, to discuss them in relation to the time in which these women are inserted. For this purpose, the works Virgindade anti-higiênica (1924), by Ercília Nogueira Cobra, and Against the kids (2018), by Lina Meruane, will be analyzed.
Keywords: feminism; women; Brazilian literature; Latin American literature; Americas.
