Football as a producer of subjectivity: a study based on children and young people from shelters in the city of Pelotas/RS

The article aimed to analyze, based on ethnographic inspiration, how football crossed and produced the subjectivities of children and young people living in shelter homes, based on the work carried out by the Frenchman Wacquant (2002). The field study took place through the presence of the authors in the shelters between March 2022 and December 2023. The observations were carried out by the researcher, once a week and lasting one hour in each institution. During the World Cup period, this dynamic changed, as the entire duration of the games was monitored. The research carried out at the shelter homes enabled us to identify that, despite finding themselves in a different situation from that of young people who are with a family, the children and young people who reside in these institutions also constitute their subjectivities crossed by cultural phenomena, such as This is the case with football.
