Analysis of the institutionalization of inclusion in the Association of Quilombola Remnants of Alto Alegre and Adjacencies/CE:
presence and voice of women in decision-making

This article intends to deal with Graham Smith's experiences with democratic innovations identified in the institutional design and political-cultural practices of the Association of Quilombola Remnants of Alto Alegre and Adjacencies/CE. Graham Smith's conceptualization of democratic innovations worked as a lens to view the innovations that occurred in the Quilombola Community of Alto Alegre in the period from 2004 to 2010 when this community recognized itself as a descendant of a quilombo and began to fight for public policies aimed at racial equality policy. And the women of the quilombo are the protagonists of all conquests, facing misogynistic and sexist attitudes contrary to their protagonist. As a method of appropriation and implementation of the Smithian category, besides the bibliographical study, we carried out a documentary analysis and semi-structured interviews with women activists in the community. Among the considerations we mentioned is the effort of the quilombola women who cry out to validate their participation beyond their presence, seeking to be heard and valued in the decision-making process in the community.References
